Philanthrophy

Kappa Men are renowned for their commitment to engaging in acts of philanthropy. Since the founding of our Fraternity our members have taken to heart the belief that “it is always better to give than to receive.” Each year the Brothers of Kappa Delta Phi contribute hundreds of hours to community service projects and raise thousands of dollars for charitable causes.

As an organization the Fraternity has a long history of supporting veterans’ causes going back to the First World War.

Brother Robert E. Pellissier, a member of our Alpha Chapter, was killed in action during the Battle of the Somme on August 29,1916. He was the fist member of Kappa Delta Phi to fall in battle.

Beloved by his Brothers, the men of Kappa Delta Phi took up a collection to fund a memorial in his name. By early 1918 almost $1,000 had been raised, of which approximately $700.00 was donated to the American Ambulance Service toward the Purchase of an ambulance.

Continuing this tradition of supporting our veterans, Kappa Delta Phi adopted Homes For Our Troops (HFOT) as our Fraternity Philanthropy in 2013.

Homes for Our Troops (HFOT) is a privately funded 501(c) (3) nonprofit organization building specially adapted, mortgage-free homes nationwide for the most severely injured Veterans from Iraq and Afghanistan. Most of these Veterans are multiple amputees, paraplegic, quadriplegic or suffered severe traumatic brain injury (TBI). These homes restore some of the freedom and independence our Veterans sacrificed defending ours, and enable them to focus on their family, recovery, and rebuilding their lives. Since its inception in 2004, over 90 percent of donations to Homes for Our Troops has gone to directly support Veterans.
